Artist Bio:
Liz Wright (b. 1992) is a Richmond, VA based artist focused on intricate, highly detailed miniature sculpting of borosilicate glass. After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2016, Wright apprenticed at Influence Glass, where she continues to work as a fulltime member today.
Wright’s art draws inspiration from the natural world with an emphasis on detail. Her process centers on technique and precision. In her early works, she became known for her marine life aesthetic. Recently, Wright has been driven to create delicate sculptural forms that explore the human relationship to grief as both a deeply intimate emotion as well as a wholly unique experience.
Alongside her studio practice, Wright has taught flameworking intensives at Pittsburgh Glass Center in PA and Snow Farm Craft School in MA. Her work has been presented in solo exhibitions in Honolulu, Hi, Washington, D.C., and Richmond, VA.
